ein·kaufen is a separable verb. It has two parts: "ein" moves to the end of the sentence.
Ich kaufe gerne ein. · Kaufst du gerne online ein?

Past tense of "sein" (to be): ich war (I was) · du warst (you were) · er/sie/es war · wir waren (we were) · ihr wart · sie/Sie waren.
Ich war in Houston. · Ich war beschäftigt. · Wie war dein Wochenende?

Grammatik

gerne, gut, nicht – wohin im Satz?

In a statement the verb is always in position 2. The adverb (gerne, gut, lieber, nicht) follows the verb, and the noun goes at the end.

Questions: the verb and the subject swap places, so the verb comes first.
Du spielst Badminton. → Spielst du Badminton?

gerne, gut or lieber?
Ich spiele gerne Badminton. = I like playing badminton.
Ich spiele gut Badminton. = I play badminton well.
Ich spiele schlecht Badminton. = I play badly.
Ich spiele lieber Badminton. = I prefer badminton.
Ich spiele nicht Badminton. = I do not play badminton.
